Ladies First is all about collaborating with other organizations who are doing amazing work in our community.
The College Success Foundation (CSF) was established in the spring of 2000 by Bob Craves and Ann Ramsay-Jenkins to provide college scholarships and mentoring to low-income, high-potential students. The Foundation evolved from former Washington State Governor Gary Locke’s 2020 Commission of the Future of Post-Secondary Education, which recommended the establishment of an independent, non-profit organization to build and sustain public understanding of the need for higher levels of educational attainment and lifelong learning.
The HERO Institute is a semi-annual college readiness event for students in grades 7-12. Participating students experienced a wide range of interactive workshops focusing on entrepreneurship. This last HERO Institute was held at the University of Washington Bothell on Nov. 9, 2013. Subjects included STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), restaurant management, finance, broadcast production/media services, business development and international trade.
Ladies First presented a workshop on women in the STEM Field entitled, “Women Can Do Anything”. We had close to 200 ladies come to this workshop and be exposed to possibilities of what can be accomplished in these fields and how women are paving the way. Ladies First put together a resource sheet for all to use surrounding the women in STEM Fields. Enjoy and stay tuned for more to come!
