I spent three days and two nights in Los Angeles County. My hotel was in Redondo, but we ventured to Inglewood/Windsor Hills, Crenshaw, and Downtown LA.
This was not my first trip to LA. I used to live in California (Monterey and San Diego) as a child. And I was just in LA last year with Monique Idlett.
We came here to celebrate a milestone birthday for my friend Dorian. 🎉🎉🎉 HBD, friend!
I stayed a couple of days beyond the birthday dinner just for fun and relaxation. I cannot even begin to express how important it is, especially as a working mom, to get away just for fun. Travel for pleasure feels like radical self-care. I don’t need permission. And I don’t even need company. I enjoy time to think and be creative. I enjoy trying new food and visiting new or historic sites.
And more and more, travel has become imperative to my growth and development as I continue to become the woman I am meant to be on this earth.
Traveling helps me to better understand people and issues. I definitely appreciate broadening my network, knowledge, and experiences across this country and around the world.
I have always taken advantage of opportunities to travel. When we had only three little ones, and the youngest was months old, I was able to travel to Japan for a couple of weeks. I enjoy traveling abroad. My most recent trips abroad were to Greece and Ghana.
My goal for the year is to travel at least once a month for work or pleasure. So far, so good. I’ve already visited Napa Valley, San Francisco, Paradise Valley, Los Angeles, and next week I head to Montgomery Alabama to learn with the Air Force. Wheels up.
Back to the LA trip, besides a fun birthday dinner, the highlight of the trip was definitely Black Market Flea. Second place goes to our Redondo Beach Boat Tour and dolphin sighting. Third place goes to our visit to The Dunes where Insecure was filmed and our stop to Issa Rae’s Hilltop Coffee.
